SCHOLARSHIP DINNER
Our team was thrilled to host our scholarship dinner in May. Our members gathered at Andale Restaurant to present the "Magdalena Chavez Scholarship" to high school senior Fernanda Loya. We are grateful to our member Aurora Anaya-Dyer and her entire family for making this scholarship possible. Aurora and her siblings gathered together to sponsor a scholarship in memory of their mother who inspired them all to pursue their own educational goals. Our team also honored our top Latinas in Progress participants who completed the entire program by committing the semester to joining us for monthly college prep workshops. Our entire HWNT team is dedicated to continuing this tradition to build our scholarship campaign to support the educational dreams of more local young women.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: LUPITA ORNELAS
Special thanks to our member of the month Lupita Ornelas, our HWNT Sisterhood Co-Chair. In this role, she helps our team plan our monthly membership meetings, recruit dynamic guest speakers and plan sisterhood events. She is the founder of www.MyBizFlyer.com. She is a talented business owner, marketing professional, and event planner. Our team is grateful for her support in helping us connect with more local women leaders, assisting with scholarship fundraising, helping with membership recruiting and organizing excellent presentations for our team.

LATINAS IN PROGRESS APPLICATIONS OPEN
The LIP Education Series consists of five learning sessions, city wide volunteer opportunities, and HWNT mentors. As a part of the program, we are recruiting professional women to share their career experience with our team. Our team is hosting a series of college prep and leadership workshop for the girls in our Latinas in Progress program. For more information, visit our online application here or email hwntelpaso@gmail.com.

LATINAS IN PROGRESS GIVING CIRCLE:
Help young Latina teens reach their academic goals by donating to the HWNT giving circle. The Latinas in Progress program exposes high school Latinas to college life and provides them with the tools needed to succeed. All donations make a big impact. https://hipgive.org/project/latinas-in-progress/
SPONSOR A GIRL: You can sponsor one girl in the entire program with a donation of $50 (this covers all the program expenses for one member). Donations will help us cover the costs of the program such as workshop materials, field trip transportation for college campus tours, event costs (venue & food for participants), program recruitment materials, college prep manuals, workshop hand-outs and college scholarship resources. https://hipgive.org/project/latinas-in-progress/

SERVICE RECAP: HELPING FOSTER YOUTH A big thanks to all our members who contributed to sponsoring much-needed toiletries for youth aging out of the foster care system & supporting our local Pride Center for foster youth during our May service project. Many of these foster kids are on their own with very little resources after they turn 18, so these donations go a long way. Special thanks to our member Sylvia Bonscher who rallied her friends, co-workers and students to join in supporting our charity drive.

JULY CHARITY DRIVE: Support Refugees Our community is welcoming over 3,000 refugees from Cuba over the next few weeks. The Houchen Community Center and the El Paso Diocese are serving as emergency shelters and hospitality centers. They are in need of food donations and water. Contact our Service Chair Daniela Lagunes at dlagunes.martinez@gmail.com or (915) 251-3263 for more information on registration and volunteering.
